Specifying a bespoke sliding door design

Our H-bar system gives you complete flexibility to specify the bespoke design that you want.

Custom door designs are created by adding H-bars which split the coloured glass, mirror or wood effect panels into sections. You can add as many H-bars as you wish positioned at any height within the door. All the door designs shown on the website use horizontal H-bars but we also create bespoke vertical stripe designs using vertical bars. Use a mixture of vertical and horizontal bars to create more complex designs such as a checker board effect. Note: For such a design, the aluminium frame system should be used to maintain the integrity of the doors.

You are not limited to bespoke bedroom wardrobes, we can help you design your own customised partition doors or sliding doors for any room in the house.

Bespoke sliding doors in a kitchen

The bespoke kitchen cupboard design shown at the top of the page is an example of a bespoke custom made to measure sliding door design. The customer designed the look of the door by specifying where the horizontal h-bars where placed. They also specified the colour of the wood panels to match the colour of the kitchen doors.

Creating a contemporary sliding wardrobe with mixed coloured doors

One of the most popular bespoke options that customers request is the mixing of door colours. For example, on a 3 door Como design a popular choice is to have the two outer doors in a colour or wood effect and the centre door as a mirrored panel. This not only offers a striking solution but is also very practical as it provides a full length mirror which also reflects light around the room.

This door combination also works really well with our 3 panel split wardrobes such as the Milano Collection (3 panel equal split), Modena Collection (3 panel narrow band) and Torino Collection (3 panel wide band).

White and clear mirror sliding wardrobe doors

You can mix the colour on any number of doors. In this two door wardrobe example the left door is a matte white wood and the right door is clear mirror. This door also has a bespoke chunky Oak frame. You can find more framing options in this article frame design ideas to complete the look of your wardrobe doors.

Create a custom sliding wardrobe look with a mix and match door design

For example, on a 3 door wardrobe design you could choose a Como Collection mirrored panel as the centre door and use Modena Collection (3 panel narrow band) doors on either side. To avoid the overall effect becoming too busy we suggest that you use only one design from each collection. You can also choose to combine a mixed design with a contemporary colour mix.

Black and French Walnut sliding wardrobe doors

In this example both a mix of design and colour have created a custom contemporary look. The centre door is a frosted mirror from our Como Collection and and the two outer doors are from our Modena Collection incorporating a French Walnut panel top and bottom and Black wood centre panel. The frosted mirror door frame is silver and the outer doors are framed in black.

I want tall wardrobes. What is the maximum height you can make the sliding wardrobe doors?

Using the online specifying and ordering facility on our website the maximum height for the wardrobe doors is 2480mm. However, we can make the doors taller than this up to 2750mm with the steel and aluminium framed doors (except the Como Collection). Call us on Freephone 0800 035 1730 with your requirements.

I want a narrow door for a narrow space.

See our narrow wardrobes page.

I want very wide doors. What is the maximum width of the individual wardrobe doors?

Using the online specifying and ordering facility on our website the maximum width for each individual wardrobe door is 1220mm but we can make doors wider than this at an additional cost.

There are a couple of considerations when ordering doors of greater width than our standard 1220mm:

  • please make sure that you are able to get the doors not only into the room where they are going to be installed, but also through all other doors in your house that they need to be carried through;

  • wider doors can become very heavy and difficult to handle so you may need more than one person to help place them in position and install them.

Please see our wide sliding wardrobe doors article for more imformation.

I want to fill a wide space. How wide can the opening be?

We can make the doors to fit openings of any width, but there are some considerations that you should bear in mind. Top and bottom tracks are supplied in 5000mm lengths. For widths greater than this simply butt two top tracks together, do the same for the bottom tracks A neat joint is all that is required to ensure smooth running doors.

I want more than 5 doors. What is the maximum number of doors I can have in one system?

Through the online specifying and ordering facility we offer a maximum number of five doors, in the majority of cases, this will suit most people. However, we have supplied 6 door and even 7 door systems. With a 6 or 7 door system this would most likely involve an opening of over 5000mm wide in which case two top tracks and two bottom tracks are supplied. Each set can be butted together to form a single track.

Call our Custom Design Team on Freephone 0800 035 1730 with your requirements.

Do you offer a single runner track for a sliding door?

Yes. This is only available in aluminium frame selection. The bottom track fixes to the floor and you can lay your flooring material up to it so the end result is that only the runner channel is seen. We also offer a matching single top track.

I like the wood effect panels. Can I specify which direction I want the wood grain to go?

You can specify the direction of the wood grain on all the doors collections except for the Como Collection which will always be vertical.
